Dan Lamar Woodham Jr.

Born and raised in rural Alabama USA, I managed to end up in Japan. My passion is riding Motorcycles, Traveling, Scuba Diving and Sailing.

Living in Tokyo has the best of all worlds, you have 4 seasons with snow skiing, cherry blossoms, beaches, sailing, scuba diving, hiking and the big city life right at your finger tips. It is truly an amazing place to live.

Alabama - Life was simple growing up without the internet, we mostly played outdoors throwing rocks, shooting each other with BB-guns and eating peanut butter with a spoon. There were fewer distractions back then .

Life is a bit more intense these days, deadlines, budgets, audits and living in a city of 23 million took some getting use to.. Radical changes in life!

Japan - I have been working in Finance/Banking/Telco and now in the airline industry. I arrived in Japan early 1990’s starting off with programming, networking, project management, disaster recovery/BCP, security and then on to management roles mastering all aspects of my career field. I really enjoy IT and delivering solutions to my customers and stake holders. Japan is famous for long working hours, crowded trains and social pressures, so it is import to have activities to refresh and reset to keep life balance.

Why do I love Japan? Besides the electric toilet seats, amazing food, low crime rates and cleanliness, I am fascinated with how the culture, customs, religion and language are blended together that makes Japan this mystic place. They have simplicity, strong moral values and live by the  4 S’s (service, social, sustainable, share). I have learned so much from the Japanese and continue to learn everyday on how to become a better person.

Below are some pictures of myself and family from Alabama.
